• One in five Canadians will experience a mental illness at some point in their lifetime
• By 2020 depression will be a leading cause of disability worldwide, 2nd only to heart disease
• 8% of Canadians will experience a major depression in their lifetime
• Women are twice as likely as men to experience depression
• About 1% of Canadians will experience Bipolar Disorder or manic depression & another 1% will be affected by Schizophrenia
• Anxiety disorders affect 5% of the population
